Cuore contento
Overview
Client: Cuore Contento
Location: Arcata, California
Owners: Vito Riccobene and Rosa Ramirez
Description:
Vito and Rosa are identical twins. They were chemistry majors who realized after they graduated that chemistry was not their passion, pasta was. While in college they both worked at a local Italian restaurant and learned a great deal from the owners who make their own pastas and sauces.
They always met at the restaurant they worked at and sometimes helped out on weekends. The owners regarded the twins as the children they never had and when the time came for them to retire they more or less gave them the business. The two have been successfully running the restaurant for about 5 years but are looking to shift from that to packaging their sauces and pastas.
• While Vito is a vegetarian, who has spent a lot of time experimenting with fire roasted vegetables, organic squash and other unique vegetarian sauces, Rosa loves the meat sauces. Trying to find a balance will be key.
What they need:
The restaurant, Cuore Contento (the contented heart), has a logo and brand they have used for decades. Vito and Rosa, with the shift to packaging, are looking to rebrand.
They want to be known for their flavorful, vegetarian and hearty meat sauces and perfectly dried homemade pastas. When asked words that describe their sauces and pastas they said: warm, loving, flavorful, rich, colorful, satisfying. When asked to describe themselves they said: patient, careful, thoughtful, scientific, quiet and hardworking. Gemma also threw in happy, contented, and the idea of wanting everyone to smile when they ate their products.
Packaging needs:
(You may determine some things here so long as the things you are packaging stay true to the brief and story.)
You will need to package at least 5 things – you can do 2 sauces and 3 pastas or 3 sauces and two pastas. You will need to do at least two of something though.
Sauces will be in glass jars and pastas can have more flexibility. Perhaps in a bag with a tag or label or a box. Be creative but think about what will mock up cleanly.
